报告摘要:In last 30 years, the American automotive industry was facing strong competitions from Japanese car makers. Since then, American automotive industry has been working on improving the quality of their products. This effort is a great impetus for the development of quality engineering, American automotive industry become a focal point of many quality engineering theories and practices, including the 2mm program. This quality improvement effort also coincidence with the period of spreading of the 3rd industrial revolution. In this presentation, I will first summarize the journey of this quality improvement effort and discuss the top 3 most effective approaches contributing in closing the quality gap. I will also summarize the contribution of 2mm program and its relationship with 3rd industrial revolution. Secondly, industry 4.0 is right around corner, I will share my observations and thoughts for the future quality engineering in Industry 4.0 era based on the lessons learnt in automotive industry.
