6、Training link
1). Course learning
Course learning is an important training link for MEM postgraduates, which needs to meet the relevant credit requirements.
(1) Advanced English listening and speaking and advanced English writing can apply for exemption after meeting the relevant requirements;
(2) The course contents of introduction to academic literacy include: scientific ethics and academic norms, intellectual property rights, humanities and arts, psychology, career planning, academic literature review, academic paper writing, etc;
(3) Master's students shall, under the guidance of their tutors, formulate curriculum plans according to the training plan, and are allowed to choose courses in stages, but all courses shall be completed within one and a half years. The required credits must be completed before applying for dissertation defense.
2). Professional practice
Professional practice is an important link in the training process of MEM postgraduates. During the study period, you must ensure no less than one year of engineering practice.
3). Comprehensive practice
The comprehensive practice link focuses on cultivating the comprehensive quality of MEM postgraduates, which can be carried out in a variety of ways, such as scientific and technological innovation, social service, cultural construction, temporary exercise, volunteer activities and so on, which can be carried out in a short semester or vacation. After the comprehensive practice is completed, the comprehensive practice summary form for Postgraduates of Northwest University of technology shall be filled in, and the instructor shall write comments and attach the opinions of the comprehensive practice implementation unit, which shall be included in my business file.
The comprehensive practice of MEM postgraduates can be combined with professional practice, and students are encouraged to participate in IPMP qualification certification.
4). Thesis opening
Thesis opening is the starting point for MEM master students to carry out thesis work, which should generally be carried out before the end of the third semester. The thesis topics of MEM postgraduates should be combined with engineering practice and application, and have clear application background and application characteristics. Under the guidance of tutors of both parties, postgraduates should read relevant literature, especially foreign literature, to form a "literature review"; The opening report shall demonstrate the scientific significance, background, research content, expected objectives, research methods and subject conditions of the topic.
The college, degree branch and tutor shall negotiate to establish a review team for the opening of master's thesis. The review team shall be composed of at least three persons with professional titles of associate professor or above, with one team leader. Master students shall report the opening report of the thesis to the review team. The review team shall conduct strict review and give review opinions.
Those who pass the review are allowed to continue the research work of the paper. Those who fail to pass the review are given a yellow card warning and rectification within a time limit, and the opening report of the paper is made again. Those who still fail to pass the review terminate the training or take other diversion ways.
5). Mid-term assessment
MEM postgraduates shall submit an interim progress report about 6 months after the opening of the thesis. The report shall include: whether the thesis work is carried out according to the scheduled content of the opening report and the planned progress of the thesis; Completed research contents, participated scientific research and academic conditions; Existing or expected problems, proposed solutions, etc; Next work plan and research content.
According to the research progress and discipline development in the mid-term of the thesis, students are allowed to make necessary adjustments to the topic selection (title, content, research plan, etc.) at the beginning of the thesis. When applying for dissertation defense, the main content of the dissertation shall be basically consistent with the content of the dissertation determined after the mid-term assessment.
The college and degree branch negotiate with the tutor to form an assessment team. The assessment team is composed of at least three persons with professional titles above vice senior (including) and one leader. The assessment team is responsible for strictly reviewing the interim progress report of the thesis submitted by master students. Those who pass the examination are allowed to continue the research work of the thesis. Those who fail to pass the examination are given a yellow card warning, rectified within a time limit, resubmitted the report, and those who still fail to pass the examination again are terminated or take other diversion ways.
6). Dissertation writing
MEM postgraduates should complete their master's thesis under the guidance of their tutors. The paper should be systematic and complete, and have their own new opinions, which shows that the author has mastered the advanced technical methods, technical means and management methods to solve the problems in the field of engineering application.
Before submitting the MEM dissertation, the dissertation shall be checked according to the regulations of Northwest University of technology on dissertation writing.
7). Thesis defense
The application for dissertation defense shall be implemented in accordance with the provisions of the University's degree evaluation committee.
