On the afternoon of December 4th, 2019, Professor Alexander Trifonov Tomov, former Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Senior Advisor of the Silk Road International Chamber of Commerce and Professor of Sofia University, gave an academic lecture entitled "The New World Order and The role of China" in the lecture hall of the School of Management, Chang 'an campus of Northwestern Polytechnical University. This lecture is hosted by Associate Professor Shao Jing, Assistant Dean of the School of Management. Mr. Jiang Tianxi, Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Silk Road International Chamber of Commerce, and also students of NPU attended the lecture.
First of all, Prof. Tomov introduced the changes of the global political situation and economic environment after the World War II. Then, he mentioned the rise of China, as a global power and a new role in the world of economy, from the financial crisis in 2008 to the occurrence of the global capitalist crisis. Prof. Tomov introduced also the five main economic regions in the world: China, the United States, India, Russia and the European Union. He analyzed and forecasted of new trends and gave prophecy to the possible scenarios in global development from 2020 to 2050. Finally, Professor Tomov elaborated the main elements of the new global structure, including the new global powers, regional forces, satellite states, shared future for mankind and the concept of the Silk Road.
During the question-and-answer session of the lecture, Professor Tomov actively interacted with the students, carefully answered the questions raised by the students, and took a group photo with all the members after the lecture.
This lecture brought a lot of inspirations to the teachers and students of NPU, and some students also had in-depth conversation with Professor Tomov after the lecture. The lecture was held successfully.
About the lecturer: Mr. Alexander Trifonov Tomov, one of the most known political and business leaders of Bulgaria in post totalitarian period (1990 - 2013), MP in the 7th Great National Parliament, 36-38 National Parliaments, Deputy prime minister of Bulgaria. He was graduated from University of National and World Economy, Sofia, Bulgaria; Sankt-Peterburg University, degree in economics, Master of Science; Doctor and Professor of Science in macroeconomics and political sciences. He also took part in preparing and creating 31 main laws in Bulgarian legislation/ mainly in the field of economy/ in three Bulgarian parliaments. (Commercial Law, Taxation laws, Social and Health insurance laws etc.)
He is author of many books and articles. Among them: “The New Democratic state: beyond J. Keynes and M. Friedman” (2012) and "The new global forces and Europe”(2017,which prove the new role of P. R. China as global force and most dynamic nation in the world. )
