报告简介:Institutional theory suggests that firms have a tendency to mimic others under conditions of uncertainty. However, for Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) subject to dual institutional logics from home as well as host country, it is unclear when they mimic peers from the home country and when they mimic peers from the host country. Placed in the context of MNEs’ philanthropic donation to disaster relief following the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake in China, we develop a staged model of MNEs’ mimetic behavior, arguing that MNEs initially imitate home country peers and subsequently imitate host country peers, adapting to a prominent social movement that disrupted their conventional way of response. We further propose two moderators: LOF and CSR reputation. Specifically, we argue that LOF strengthens the imitation effect on the initial stage and weakens the imitation effect on the subsequent stage; whereas CSR reputation exerts a positive moderating effect on both stages. Empirical analyses lend support to our hypotheses. Our study contributes to institutional theory and CSR literature by unravelling the dynamic process of imitation in which MNEs shift their mimetic target from home country peers to host country peers, leading to local isomorphism with respect to CSR.

报告人简介:张建君,北京大学光华管理学院组织与战略管理系教授,博士生导师。北京大学管理案例研究中心副主任。2003年于美国加州大学伯克利分校获得社会学博士学位。主要研究领域是组织理论、企业社会责任、企业政治行为、领导行为与艺术、传统智慧与现代管理等。在国内外著名学术期刊如Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, California Management Review等上发表论文四十余篇,出版英文著作一部,其中多数论文都产生了一定的影响,多次在国际学术会议上报告研究论文。曾获北京大学第十届、第十一届人文社会科学优秀成果二等奖和一等奖,全国第六届高等学校科学研究优秀成果奖二等奖。
